Why QuKi Notes Works This Way
QuKi Notes makes some deliberate choices that may feel unfamiliar if you are used to other note apps. This page explains the reasoning behind them.
The editor is always home
When you open QuKi Notes, you land in a blank editor. There is no list, no dashboard, no recent files screen. The app does not have a back button.
This is intentional. The most common action is capture — you have a thought, you need to write it down immediately. Every extra screen between opening the app and a cursor is friction. The editor eliminates that friction by being the starting point, not a destination you navigate to.
If you want to see your previous QuKis, the QuKis list is one tap away. But it is not the default, because capture is the default.
No folders, tags, or organization
QuKi Notes has no way to organize QuKis into folders, add tags, create backlinks, or archive items. This is not a missing feature — it is a deliberate constraint.
Organization takes time. Deciding where something goes, maintaining a taxonomy, keeping it consistent — these are tasks that slow down capture and turn a note app into a productivity system. QuKi Notes is not a productivity system.
Most QuKis don't need to go anywhere. Sometimes a thought just needs somewhere to live — off your mind, available if it ever turns out to be useful. If something does need to live somewhere specific, you can send it there using a transport.
Your data is yours
QuKis are stored as individual plain-text .md files on your device. No proprietary format, no database you can't open, no cloud account required to access your own notes.
You can read, copy, or move your QuKi files without opening the app. QuKi Notes does not lock you in.
Nothing auto-deletes
QuKis are ephemeral in framing — the newest ones surface to the top, older ones age off-screen — but nothing is automatically deleted. Your QuKis stay on your device until you delete them.
The app trusts you to decide when something is done.
Sending
The Send action is there when a QuKi needs to go somewhere — clipboard, share sheet, or any transport you wire up. Tap Menu → Send... in the editor, pick a transport, done. It is always user-initiated; QuKi Notes never pushes anything anywhere on its own.
A QuKi that never gets sent is fine. It stays available, searchable, and editable for as long as you want it.
